Are you struggling with communication in your relationship? Have you lost love for yourself and need help reclaiming it? In this episode, Cara invites Dr. Liz Jenkins, a licensed marriage and family therapist and certified connection coach, to discuss the importance of clear communication in a marriage and how to keep relationships strong.
You all know marriage is not an easy road. It takes effort and work everyday, especially if you want it to be long lasting. Liz walks you through the things to consider in keeping a fulfilling relationship.
One of the most important aspects of marriage is clear communication. Many women think their partners can read their minds. This has such a negative impact because it creates a disconnect where no one in the relationship is communicating their needs. Remember, your partner is not a mind reader and needs to know exactly what you want.
Women need to share their goals and dreams with their partners. If you communicate what you want in life, you gain that support. With that, you will be successful and have someone in your corner for life. But when sharing your goals, it is important to outline expectations and needs so that support never falters.
Moms have a lot on their plate and communication can fall through the cracks. It is important to take the time to speak to your partner about your priorities so you don’t feel you are doing everything alone.
It is so easy to resent your partner if communication fails. Many women end up resenting their partners by only focusing on their failures or what they do differently. But, to have long lasting relationships, you need to look at what is done right or done their way. Let your partner fold the laundry the way they want or complete house chores in reverse order. Point is, it will get done either way!
As women and moms, it is crucial to self-reflect and check in with your partner on a routine basis to understand how both of you are feeling and what you need from each other.
