Do you want to know how the Purpose Driven Mom Club works for busy moms? In this episode, Cara interviews Jessica Rogers, a former teacher and perfectionist who started her own business after joining the Purpose Driven Mom Club.
Jessica talks about her experience with the Purpose Driven Mom Club and some of the tips and tools she uses in her life. One of these is the 15 minute formula, where you take all of your “extra minutes” in the day to do something meaningful or productive. Another concept Jessica uses is seasonality, where a lot of events happen during a certain season and focus on planning for all of them. This is also a time where other priorities get shifted as there is less time to work on them.
Cara and Jessica talk about the intensity of tasks and the feeling of needing to accomplish everything. Many people feel they need to accomplish everything on their list and not doing it causes feelings of failure. The reality is that it is okay to not get everything done in record speed. You can’t have it all at the same time because it is not realistic. There needs to be a mindset shift to move away from unhealthy habits of perfectionism.
Jessica also shares the idea of messy action. This is when you act on an idea instead of talking about it. Everyone can be guilty of this, where you tell someone multiple times you’re going to do something but dont due to fear or lack of confidence. But the thing is, if you don’t move the ball on anything, nothing will happen. It is important to create steps for yourself towards a big goal in order to move closer to achieving it. The point is to just start somewhere!
Taking on a new responsibility or goal does have an impact on the family. This is more so if this new thing takes up more time. It is important to consider if something will impact your family. Think about what you will have to stop doing or drop in order to fit this new goal or activity in. If it impacts time with your family or cuts into crucial times in the day like pickup or drop off, it might not be the best thing to do right now.
